The
little bundle of joy that we eventually hold after nine months is the best gift
that the Almighty has given us. However, the nine-month journey has also taken
its toll on the mother’s body, right from morning sickness, potential
complications to the painful labour. Her body has changed too and one of the
physical changes that happen to her body is the presence of stretch marks.
WHAT ARE STRETCH MARKS?
Stretch
marks are light pink or purplish streaks that may develop on the belly, thighs
and breasts as the pregnancy advances. They are formed due to the expansion and
contraction of the skin. They are not harmful and they usually fade once the
baby is born.
You
can get rid of them over time by these simple home remedies.
WATER
– The universal drink to get rid of all ailments and toxins. Drink 8 to 10
glasses of water daily and see the magic working of water working on your skin.
A well balanced diet with the water will help to restore the elasticity of your
skin and make those stretch marks disappear.
CASTOR
OIL – This oil is used to treat various skin ailments including warts, moles,
wrinkles and pimples. Massage the castor oil on the marked area for about 15
minutes and cover the area with a cotton or flannel cloth. Use a hot water
bottle or heating pad to heat the area for about 30 minutes. You will see your
efforts paying off after a month if you have been doing this daily.
POTATO
JUICE – Potato is rich in minerals and vitamins and therefore helps in
restoring and the growth of skin cells. Rub a potato slice gently over the
marked area gently for 15 minutes. Once dry, wash the area with lukewarm water.
ALOE
VERA – Aloe Vera juice has the unique ability to help the skin get its natural
elasticity. Squeeze the sticky gel out from the leaf and apply it to the
affected area. Leave for about two to three hours before washing it off.
LEMON
JUICE – The acidic nature and the natural bleaching properties of lemon juice,
make it one of the most popular methods used in the removal of stretch marks.
The Vitamin C in the juice helps in collagen production. Apply fresh lemon juice to the marked area
and leave it on for about ten minutes. Wash it off with warm water.
EGG
– Egg whites are rich in protein and amino acids. Whip the egg whites of two
eggs and apply liberally over the affected area. Leave for 20 minutes and then
wash it with cold water. Dry and moisturize the skin with olive oil. You will
start seeing the results after two weeks if you have been following the routine
religiously.
SUGAR
– A natural exfoliant, it is one of the best ways of getting rid of stretch
marks. Add a few drops of almond oil and lemon juice in a teaspoon of sugar.
Mix and apply directly on the stretch marks and rub for about ten minutes and
then shower.
I
swear by home remedies and these are some of the best. Make them part of your
daily routine and see those stretch marks fade away.
